Cinnamon Essential Oil

You’re probably familiar with the spice – cinnamon. Cinnamon oil is different, because it’s the much more potent “extract” form of the plant… which contains special compounds not found in the dried spice.

There are two primary types of cinnamon oils available on the market: cinnamon bark oil and cinnamon leaf oil. While they have some similarities, they’re different products with somewhat separate uses.

Cinnamon bark oil is extracted from the outer bark of the cinnamon tree, and is usually more expensive than cinnamon leaf oil. Both are beneficial, but cinnamon bark oil is considered to be more potent.

Cinnamon oil benefits:

  • Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory
  • Immune booster
  • Protects the heart and boosts blood circulation
  • Improves digestion
  • Powerful antioxidant
  • Improves blood glucose lowering effects
  • Protects brain function

Uses:

  • Add 1-2 drops on the feet for fungal foot infections… athlete’s foot
  • To repel flies, apply diluted oil to skin and dab on clothing
  • To aid digestion mix 2-3 drops with a carrier oil and apply to stomach
  • Mix 1 drop each, cinnamon, lavender, & carrier oil to treat bites and stings
  • Diffuse 2-3 drops to reduce headaches, reduce depression and irritability
  • Add 2-3 drops to a diffuser to relax tight muscles, ease joints and relieve menstrual cramps
